The walk itself is an enjoyable spectacle that is worth the pay off. I was mixed at the beginning about the framing device of JGL on the Statue of Liberty with the Twin towers behind him. The film does reward you at the end with small sentimental tribute to the towers that mad me realize how much of a love letter to the towers this actually was.
